Why FITH Futures exists... and why you should care

Updated: Jul 14
There's an industrial complex built around explaining Gen Z.
Nobody's doing it for Gen X.
Entire careers and businesses are honed in on the nature and needs of Gen Z (b. 1997-2012). Analysts studying themselves, packaging their own culture back to brands. Fair enough. We're doing the same thing, operating from the inside out. The difference? We're doing it for Gen X (b. 1965-80).
We've been reduced to a mixtape and a shrug. That's not analysis. That's a placeholder. And that's the miss.
FITH Futures is a consumer intelligence agency focused on the 50+ individual, starting with Gen X. Not as a demographic. As a lived, culturally coherent mindset that's been consistently misread by people with no stake in getting it right.
We're peer-to-peer. Xer creatives, strategists, directors. Beyond the tropes. Beyond the nostalgia. Beyond Molly Ringwald.
And we're very aware there's money being left on the table.
Gen X was built on tribes: music, subculture, scenes, identity through affiliation. That external sense of "us vs them" hasn't disappeared. It's been internalised. The tribes collapsed, but the outsider mindset didn't. It scaled.
Now the tribe is all of us.
Decades of institutional neglect did what nothing else could: unified a fragmented generation into a single ingroup. Not neat, not aestheticised - experiential. You had to be there.
That's commercially significant.
Because ingroup recognition drives behaviour. Get the tone wrong, and you're ignored. Get it right - genuinely right - and you unlock something most brands never reach: trust without pandering.
We're not here to "reframe ageing". We're here to correct the picture.

Our goal is straightforward: help brands and businesses understand Gen X as real humans in flux and as individuals not solely defined by the needs of the people around them.
We aim to give you honest, practical and positive ways to design for them and to reach them.
Because there is a problem. The X-ers we have profiled and the ones we have spoken to are struggling to name brands and organisations that genuinely resonate with them, make them feel seen or are prepared for their longer life experience.
That's why FITH Futures operates as an upstream research partner and a go-to-market advisory, turning today’s social blur around the 50+ consumer into tomorrow’s strategic advantage.
Nothing about this audience without understanding it from the inside.
The agency translates Gen X insight into practical, actionable output tailored to individual brand or organisational need; from off-the shelf and bespoke consumer insight reports, cultural and creative intelligence, product strategy, foresight frameworks and workshops to brand audits and thought leadership reports.
No top-down assumptions. No Gen Z hand-me-downs. No Boomer 2.0 laziness.

This blog and our substack are the shop windows. Insights, strategy and point of view: built on research and expertise, made sharper by being the thing we're studying.
Our culture is being strip-mined without us in the room. Reduced, recycled, approximated. The grimmer the present gets, the more mythological that era becomes, aestheticised by people who weren't there. We were. That's not nostalgia. It's experience.
If something in this already feels familiar, that's the point. You've clocked the disconnect before anyone named it.
We're here for the people who noticed. And for the brands and businesses smart enough to care.
